| The Annual Down Snydrome Benefit Tournament |
| A big THANK YOU! to all the many teams that participated this year and in years past. Without you there would not be a tournament. We successfully fielded 78 teams including men's, women's, co-rec and seniors. We even had two church teams compete in the men's division. We played a four game format throughout the weekend despite the inclement weather. Champions were crowned in all divisions of play. We want to thank the Park & Recreation departments of Henrico County, Chesterfield County and the City of Richmond for generously allowing the tournament to be played. The fields were all in good condition, even though the weather did not cooperate. Thanks to Henry Pollard, Commissioner, his wife, Julie and the local ASA staff for their continued support of our annual event. The real heros are the local ASA umpires who contribute their time, ability and expertise to the success of our tournament. The local ASA organization and umpires have been supporting our cause since we started 21 years ago. We, the Down Syndrome Association, deeply appreciate their hard work. A "Super" event for a most worthy cause. Over the span of this tournament we have grossed close to $300,000. All proceeds from this tournament help defray the cost of the following: - Education for families with newborns - Advocacy - Program presentations for our families at monthly meetings - Help to defray costs for our members to attend conventions - Sending our kids to summer camps A tremendous Thanks to our sponsors and for your continued support. We hope to see all the teams back again next year! |
